Why Manchester City star Ederson has pulled out of Brazil’s squad

It has been reported that Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson has had to withdraw from Brazil’s squad for the March international break due to illness.

The 28-year-old has been replaced in the 25-man squad by Atletico Mineiros Everson.

In a brief statement, the Brazilian Football Federation said: “The rest of the group arrives in Teresopolis this Tuesday, with the exception of goalkeeper Everson, called up to replace fellow Ederson. The Atletico-MG player joins the Brazilian team in Rio de Janeiro on Wednesday.”

Brazil will play two World Cup qualifiers this month. The first is against Chile on Thursday the 24th^th and the other against Bolivia on Wednesday the 30th^th of March.

As Brazil have already secured their place in Qatar 2022, it is not too much of a blow to lose Ederson, especially with Liverpool No. 1 Alisson standing by.

Will Ederson be ok for Manchester City’s next match?

However, it is unlikely that the news of Ederson’s withdrawal will please Manchester City fans.

They are at a crucial point in their campaign as they battle with Liverpool for the title.
