A company like Netflix, which offers content across the globe, needs a pretty solid infrastructure to ensure that our screens get some action. And it’s cloud platforms like Amazon Web Services (AWS) that help companies deliver on such promises.

Vancouver-based cloud consulting firm OpsGuru, a Carbon60 company, was just recognized as the only Canadian partner in the AWS network to achieve Premier Tier Service Partner status. That means OpsGuru is one of the most technically capable facilitators when it comes to helping customers leverage AWS technologies, from machine learning and AI all the way to starting a cloud-based journey.

“We’ve been working as an organization focused on Amazon customers for a number of years now,” Dave Lindon, OpsGuru general manager, says of the road to becoming a Premier Tier partner. Lindon, who formerly worked at Google, has been in the cloud industry for eight years now. “We’re at the point of talking about our engagements in the thousands. So you can extrapolate how many successful engagements we needed to achieve before we were able to hit this distinction.” Equinox Gold (the Vancouver-based mining company) and Trimac (a Richmond-based trucking company) are just two examples of successful cloud transformations that OpsGuru helped advance.

The cloud consulting firm has 250 staff across the globe, with offices in Toronto, Richmond Hill and Saint John, as well as a number of posts in Europe. This AWS status unlocks a good deal of possibilities moving forward, be it programmatic opportunities, new access to funding or marketing development benefits.

“Premier specifically allows us to work with customers in a more holistic way, where we’re able to say that Amazon has validated all of our credentials to a point of being able to stamp us as a Premier partner,” Lindon maintains. “And we’re very happy about that. Broadly speaking, we expect to see an acceleration of our business related to this announcement.”
