The Oscar-winning actor cements his reputation as one of the nicest and most down-to-earth stars by reportedly making time for some Pittsburgh residents.
Photographer Rachel Rowland told the publication that she, bride Grace Gwaltney and her bridesmaids left Fairmont Pittsburgh on Saturday when Hanks decided to attend the party.
“So we all went from the hotel to the limousine, and out of nowhere he shows up and just says, ‘My name is Tom Hanks! May I take a picture with the bride?'” Rowland said. “We all started screaming and were pretty much in shock.”
She said Hanks posed for some photos with the wedding party, and his wife Rita Wilson, who was with him, also jumped in on some of the photos with them.
Ashley Glass and her 2-year-old son Charles met Hanks as he was filming near their home. Hanks saw her and the young man watching and went to chat with them.
“I hurried and got my phone. He came over and talked to us,” Glass told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. “I was starstruck. I did not even know what to say.”
