A suspect has been arrested months after a special police officer was shot and killed while on guard in southeast DC, police said Wednesday.
Angela Washington, 41, of Suitland, Maryland, was found dead in an apartment complex on 10th Place SE on the evening of September 21, 2021, police said.
On Wednesday, police arrested 22-year-old Jadohn Bracey from Temple Hills, Maryland, and charged him with first-degree murder.
Police say the case is still under investigation.
Washington was the mother of four, her grieving family said. She also had two grandchildren.
“My mother was a hard-working woman. She did everything for her children. She did everything for anyone. Whoever. She took people in when they were bad, ”her daughter Shanya Washington said earlier.
“I just feel that whoever did it, if it was their intentions to do it, I just hope that they – I can say what I want to say? I just hope you die and burn in hell,” he added. she.
Washington was found in his officers’ uniform in the apartment complex, police said.
DC police are looking for a white Camry with tinted windows seen near the area.
Washington was the captain of a security company and went there to check on officers who were on patrol there, her family said. She had a gun, but nothing indicated she had a chance to defend herself.
Special police officers are employed to provide security and protection in a particular location.
Police have not provided further information on the circumstances surrounding the shooting and the motive is still unclear.
