Soccer Mom Announces New Album, Shares “Shotgun”: Listen

Even after Soccer Mommy played around in the experimental electronic pop realm with last year’s one-time single “Rom Com 2004”, a collaboration with Bon Iver / Low producer BJ Burton, I can not say that I ever expected Sophie Allisons next album would be produced by Daniel Lopatin. But here we are: the follow-up to 2020’s magnificent color theory is a full-length collaboration with Mr. Oneohtrix Point Never. It is called Sometimes forever, and it will be released in June. (No, it does not contain Abel Tesfaye – I know that.)

The lead single “Shotgun” pairs rattling processed drums with a surfy guitar line worthy of a retro spy movie, but as Allison’s voice hits the frame, the familiar holographic melancholy comes rushing in again. “‘Shotgun’ is about the joys of losing yourself in love,” Allison writes in a press release. see below.
