Santa Monica police arrest four people in Catalyst theft

Police in Santa Monica arrested four people in connection with a theft of a catalyst in the 1500 block on Harvard Street in Santa Monica early Friday morning.

According to a press release from the SMPD, a person who was awakened to the sound of power tools and grinding called the police, believing they saw a group of people stealing a catalytic converter, which then left in a gray Chevy Tahoe SUV.

Police found the suspect car and stopped the traffic. There were four people in the SUV, as well as several chainsaws, a jack, two-way radios, masks, various tools and the stolen catalytic converter.

The Chevy Tahoe was towed and all burglary tools were posted as evidence. The four suspects, Jesus Guerrero, Alexandra Garcia, Jesse Gonzalez and Samantha Lopez were arrested and charged with various charges, including large-scale theft and conspiracy.
