“We appreciate all the support, I really do.”
Earlier this week, Rachel Zegler – who pretty much plays the main character in the musical West Side Storywho has been nominated for seven Oscars – revealed that she was not even invited to the awards ceremony.
Well, it turns out that she might end up performing at the Oscars after all – and she could also present an award.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has invited Zegler to present an award at the festivities this Sunday.
A small problem, though: Zegler is currently in London recording Disney’s live action Snow white remake – so it sounds like they’ll have to move some schedules to make the look happen.
Rachel mentioned the ongoing recording a series of tweets further inquiry for the Oscars on Sunday night.
“My goodness, folks! Appreciate all the support, I really do,” she wrote.
“We live in such unprecedented times, and a lot of work behind the scenes goes into making film magic happen. This applies to both film productions (like the one I’m so lucky to record in London at the moment) and awards ceremonies.”
“Let’s all just respect the process, then I’ll drop my phone.”
It looks like there will be a happy ending to this saga – but we know for sure on Sunday night.
