Officials are investigating the cause of the fire that destroyed the southwest home

Firefighters are investigating the cause of a fire that broke out in a home in southwestern Calgary.

The Calgary Fire Department was called to the scene at a home on Woodfield Crescent SW just after noon Friday.

When crews arrived, they found smoke from the basement of the two-story home and worked quickly to contain the fire.

“They came after it pretty quickly,” said District Chief Martin Keefe. “They started with a transition attack from the outside. It was fully involved, so no entrance at the start, but when we got after the fire, we could go in and check further.”

The homeowners were not inside when the fire broke out and no one was injured.

The cause is under investigation.
