Epworth Geelong is getting ready to expand its intensive care unit.
The local health facility has received $ 108,000 to increase its intensive care beds from nine to 12.
An additional $ 51,000 has been donated by the La Trobe Financial Charitable Foundation to patient monitors.
Lecturer Dr. Nerina Harley said the rooms would be used to treat patients recovering from illness or major surgery.
She said it would benefit as critical surgery rose again after the pandemic.
“We have a huge backlog of patients who have not been able to access, maybe they have not been able to go to their doctors,” said Dr. Harley.
