An “infidelity index” has highlighted Britain’s most infidel cities – and a specific location in Greater Manchester has topped the list.
Illicit Encounters – an online dating site for married men and women – says 20,000 people use their services to cheat on their partner every week. New figures released by the site this week have identified that people in Altrincham are more likely to be unfaithful to their partner than residents of any other city in the UK.
Using members’ location data against each city’s adult population, the site has compiled a list of the most unbelievable places in the country. Illicit Encounters says 2,994 people in Altrincham are members alone – working as 5.71% of the city’s population, or about one in 18.

According to Altrincham, Beaconsfield in Buckinghamshire has the highest number of adulterers (5.48% of the population). Stratford-upon-Avon in Warwickshire (5.43%), Henley-on-Thames in Oxfordshire (4.54%) and Motherwell in Scotland (4.45%) round out the top five of Britain’s most infidel cities.
Swinton was the second most unfaithful city in Greater Manchester on the list, with 665 members accounting for 2.62% of the city’s population. The rest of the top five in the urban region were rounded off by Stretford with 533 members (1.99%), Denton with 688 members (1.88%) and Middleton with 762 members (1.77%).

Illicit Encounters also mapped the cities with the highest percentage of cheaters. At the city level, people are most likely to have an affair in Bath, where a total of 8,310 people are members.
According to statistics, Chester has the second highest proportion of adulterers, followed by Brighton and Hove, Nottingham and Lichfield. Manchester is the 12th most infidel city with 27,224 members or 6.68% of the population.
The figures come to light after Only Fans model Amy Kupps – who says she only dates married men and receives up to £ 40,000 in gifts from her lovers each month – shared her secrets on how to catch an unfaithful spouse.
The 32-year-old former teacher, who says “you only have yourself to blame” if your partner is unfaithful, warned people to be on the lookout for signs, including a hidden work phone or a new credit card.
She said the first lie a cheater will tell their partner is that they “meet up with a friend for a quick drink”. She said, “They will tell their wives not to wait all night and wait for them.”
Since its launch almost 20 years ago, Illicit Encounters said more than 1.1 million people across the UK have signed up to meet someone on the site for “an occasional bit of a flirtatious chat, a regular coffee date or a full affair”.
