Khloe Kardashian reveals anxiety before first Met Gala red carpet: ‘I almost had a heart attack’

She finally made her glamorous debut on the red carpet of the Met Gala on Monday night after being snubbed for years.

And Khloe Kardashian was open and honest about feeling uneasy before heading to the star-packed event.

The 37-year-old reality star took to Twitter on Tuesday morning after the Met Gala to reveal that she had anxiety before walking the red carpet for the first time.

She wrote to her near 30million followers: ‘Am I supposed to admit that I almost had a heart attack on that carpet tonight? My anxiety was through the roof!’

At the event Khloe slipped her gym-honed physique into dazzling gold Moschino gown with beaded fringe from the bust to the hem.

This year’s Met Gala marks the first time that Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour has invited all six of the Kardashian-Jenner women to the annual soiree.

The Kardashians star went on to thank her glam team on the microblogging site as she wrote: ‘To say the last couple of weeks have been a rollercoaster is an understatement, but last night made it all worth it. It was an honor to wear @moschino on this night that I will never forget. Thank you, thank you, thank you Jeremy, Laura, Stefan, Brooke and the team at @Moschino.

‘Thank you Chris Appleton and @makeupbymario for making me feel beautiful for my first Met — and Lorraine Schwartz for letting me wear the most gorgeous diamond earrings I’ve ever worn in my life.’

At the time, Khloe told red carpet correspondents that she’s ‘so excited that we’re all here together.’

For an added sexy factor, Khloe’s gown had a semi-sheer skirt that gave a glimpse at her lean legs.

The mother-of-one’s already trim waistline was further cinched in with a nude corset to create a dramatic hourglass silhouette.

She had a black cloak resting in the crook of her arms and slipped on a pair of matching arm-length gloves.

She slipped her feet into a pair of understated heeled sandals and shielded her eyes from the flashbulbs with a pair of reflective gold shades.

The Good American founder’s bleach blonde hair was parted to one side by her sister Kim’s longtime hairstylist Chris Appleton, who used Color Wow Dream Coat Supernatural Spray to ensure a totally sleek and shiny finish, before styling with tools from Tangle Teezer, then finishing the look off with the Color Wow Cult Favorite Firm + Flexible Hair Spray and the Pop & Lock Frizz-Control and Glossing Serum.

Khloe opted to go without the long blonde tresses that she is often seen modeling and instead chose to show off her natural, shoulder-length locks for the night.

She shared details about her Jeremy Scott-designed gala getup, including how her stunning gown was thrown together in ‘like 10 days.’

When asked what she’s looking forward to the ‘most’ at her first-ever gala, Khloe confessed that was definitely ready to get the party started.

‘I need a glass of champagne so that’s what i’m mainly looking forward to,’ she told the Met’s red carpet MC, La La Anthony – who is also her sister Kim Kardashian’s longtime BFF.

Prior to hitting the red carpet, Khloe was captured exiting her hotel in New York City with sister Kylie Jenner.

The dynamic duo strolled side-by-side from the hotel’s entrance/exit to a nearby chauffeured vehicle.

Fashion’s biggest night is traditionally held the first Monday in May to raise money for the Costume Institute in New York City, with last year’s event moved to September due to the pandemic.

This year’s dress code is ‘gilded glamour’ to match the theme of ‘In America: An Anthology of Fashion,’ a continuation of last year’s ‘In America: A Lexicon of Fashion.’

Tickets for the glitzy event can reportedly cost up to $35,000 apiece, while prices for a table range from $200,000 to $300,000, with last year’s bash raking in a  whopping $16.4 million for the Met’s Costume Institute.

Regina King, power couple Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds, and Lin-Manuel Miranda are hosting this time, taking over from Timothée Chalamet, Billie Eilish, Amanda Gorman and Naomi Osaka.

This will be Miranda’s first time as a Met Gala co-chair (and guest) but he was originally intended to co-host the 2020 edition before the pandemic forced its cancellation.

Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour is once again supervising the benefit as chairwoman, a position she’s held since 1995. Her fellow honorary co-chairs are designer Tom Ford and Instagram head Adam Mosseri.

As usual, the sartorial theme comes from the exhibit the gala launches: ‘In America: An Anthology of Fashion,’ which is the second of star curator Andrew Bolton’s two-part show exploring the roots of American style.

This exhibit will showcase some lesser-known designers, and also some top film directors, including Sofia Coppola, Martin Scorsese, host King, and last year’s Oscar winner Chloé Zhao.

Bolton said eight directors will create what he called ‘cinematic vignettes’ in the period rooms of the American Wing of the museum.

Similar to the September event, there will be 400 guests this year, lower than the pre-pandemic highs of 500-600 attendees.

The other four are Ford, the celebrated fashion designer who’s also an acclaimed film director, Janicza Bravo (Zola), Julie Dash (Daughters Of The Dust) and Autumn de Wilde (who directed the Jane Austen adaptation Emma. and is also a photographer).

The first part of the exhibition will remain on display in the rooms of the Anna Wintour Costume Center, along with the second part, until September 5.

More than half the pieces in the opening exhibition will be rotated out and garments from designers not yet featured will go on display.

The Met Gala is a huge money-maker for the museum, and provides the Costume Institute with its main source of funding.
