Break out the tissue boxes for this new piece of Spider-Man: No Way Home fan art, which makes Andrew Garfield’s MJ rescue even more perfect.
New Spider-Man: No Way Home fan art makes MJ’s rescue even more emotional by adding Gwen Stacy’s ghost. It’s now four months ago Spider-Man: No Way Home came to the cinemas, and in many ways it still makes waves. The MCU film is directed by Jon Watts and has broken records on its way to a total box office of $ 1.8 billion worldwide, and it even had some Oscar buzz going on for a while. One of the reasons the film has been such a huge success is that it managed to bring back actors and characters from previous Spider-Man franchises, including Tom Holland’s predecessors in the role of Peter Parker, Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield.
Both Maguire and Garfield had great moments to shine in Spider-Man: No Way Home, but it was the latter who really got an error corrected from his previous films. During the climate fight, MCU Peter’s girlfriend MJ (Zendaya) knocks over some scaffolding and crashes to the ground. Holland’s Peter is unable to reach her, but Garfields manages to swing in at the last minute and grab her. It is a direct parallel to the devastating moment of the 2014s The Amazing Spider-Man 2as Peter could not prevent his own true love, Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone), from dying in a similar way.
Garfield’s big MJ save in No way home already inspired to lots of tears among fans, but an artist has taken it a step further. On social media, spdrmnkyxxiii posted an imaginary moment right after Peter rescued MJ. It looks like it does in the movie, only Gwen’s ghost can be seen holding Peter, as if he was celebrating what he was capable of doing. Just try not to cry while watching it – it’s impossible.

After the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Garfield admitted that the MJ rescue was one of the first scenes he was beaten up and that he sees it as the best form of healing his Peter could experience. Based on the enthusiastic reactions from the audience, it is safe to say that this is a moment that has resonated with everyone and it was an ingenious way to allude to this Peter’s past. No way home does not have Garfield exactly to say what the moment means to him; instead, he just smiles with tears in his eyes as he realizes he managed to save someone who means so much to another version of himself.
Despite rumors to the contrary, Stone did not show up Spider-Man: No Way Home, but her presence was certainly felt. In fact, one can say that the above fan art is actually canon. Gwen does not need to be seen for her ghost to be there, watching over her Peter as he continues to be a hero. This scene in Spider-Man: No Way Home was already pretty perfect, but this is the one detail that just makes it even more special. No one will be able to see this scene in the same way ever again.
