Friday the 13th Part 2 star Jack Marks has died at the age of 86 after a battle over congestive heart failure, his wife confirmed.

The actor’s loving wife Linda – with whom he was married for 39 years – shared the heartbreaking news on Monday afternoon with his co-star Bill Randolph.

According to his wife, the Hollywood actor spent the last two years of his life in his home in Brooklyn, where he received hospice before dying.

In a lengthy statement, the widow wrote: “Jack had a significant acting career, both before and after we moved to Westbeth 20 years ago.

“He played mostly off-Broadway and regional theater. His biggest venues were touring nationally as the father of Briton Beach Memoirs and dying heroically in the movie on Friday the 13th Part 2.

“He was most proud of his double appearance in Athol Fugard’s play, Valley Song, which he performed at Martha’s Vineyard.

“He also enjoyed performing with the old man, Lazar Wolf, in three different setups outside the city by Fiddler on the Roof.”

The Hollywood actor famously played the role of Deputy Winslow in the epic horror film, which chases an adult Jason Voorhees through the woods before he was brutally killed.

Prior to his role in the gruesome thriller, Marks starred in the 1976 television film Der gross Horizont, the 1988 film Anna, and the popular television series Ryan’s Hope.

His last appearance on screen was back in 1989, when he starred in the TV series Tattinger’s.

Since the news began circulating online, fans of his work have flocked to social media to show their respect and condolences to the grieving family online.

One user wrote, “I met Jack Marks in NYC back in 2013. He could not have been nicer and was happy to tell Friday stories and sign autographs. RIP,”

Another added: “Bill Randolph has shared the sad news that Jack Marks has passed away. Rest in peace, Jack. Thank you [heart emoji]. “
