Five Guys announces another Aussie ranking – and that’s in Sydney’s CBD

There are more than 250,000 ways to customize a Five Guys burger and 1,000 shake alternatives. And from mid-2022, there will be two places you can book all of these options in Sydney. Five Guys number two opens later this year on George Street in Sydney’s CBD. It joins the American burger giant’s first Australian outlet, which opened with great fanfare in Penrith in September 2021.

Five Guys Sydney CBD will occupy a space at 383 George Street, in the listed Spiden House, which is also home to a Wework co-working space.

Like its Penrith store – and more than 1,700 other locations around the world – Five Guys in the CBD will be spray-painted with diners’ distinctive white and red colors. Everything is made to order, and the ability to tailor your meal is one of the hallmarks of the eatery. Exciting can add any number of toppings to their burgers – including hand-made salad, crispy pickles, ketchup, mustard and even hot sauce. Milkshakes can be jazzed up with bacon pieces for an umami crunch or fresh strawberries, Oreos and (or) peanut butter.

Another feature? Higher standards than most other fast food restaurants – burger patties are shaped by hand, and french fries are cut internally and cooked in peanut oil. Five Guys is a freeze-free zone.

Five Guys has been brought to Australia by the hospitality company Seagrass (Meat & Wine Co, 6Head, Hunter & Barrel and more), which plans to roll out more locations in Sydney and Melbourne this year.

The chain was founded in 1986 in Arlington, Virginia, on the outskirts of Washington DC, by the Murrell family. In 2003, the company began offering franchises and sold more than 300 in 18 months. Now the eatery can be found in 24 countries.
