Federal Treasurer Josh Frydenberg has stood by his decision to share comments made by the mother-in-law of independent candidate Monique Ryan.
While on the campaign trail Dr Ryan’s mother-in-law reportedly approached Mr Frydenberg and said she would vote for him in the contested seat of Kooyong.
On social media yesterday, Dr Ryan said her 87 year old mother-in-law is “receiving unwanted and distressing phone calls from strangers”.
Mr Frydenberg told Virginia Trioli he had no regrets discussing the woman’s support for his leadership in the Melbourne seat.
