SMOKE may be visible when prescribed burns take place in the north and south of Canberra today (March 22).

SDepending on the weather, a four-hectare burning at Blackies Hill – west of Denman Prospect – will be carried out to reduce the risk of fire.

The organic burning of one hectare – which began yesterday – at the Mulanggari Grassland Nature Reserve near Franklin, was also to continue today.

Fire Chiefs will direct and monitor the burning.

Temporary smoke cover is possible and may be visible across Canberra.
