Demore Barnes returns to repeat the Garland role – Deadline

A familiar face will return to Law and order: SVU. Demore Barnes, who portrayed Deputy Chief Christian Garland in the NBC proceedings, will return to repeat the role in an upcoming episode, Deadline has confirmed.

Garland joined the series in the 21st season as a recurring and was promoted to regular season in season 22. He left the series in the second half of the season 23 premiere, “Never Turn Your Back On Them”. Barnes’ Garland had left his job after disagreeing with senior officials over the way police dishonesty was handled in a controversial case.

Barnes was recently seen filming scenes in NYC for the drama series, leading to questions about his return, first reported by Give Me My Remote. He will appear in the episode on April 28th.

At the time of his departure, Barnes said he was in the dark about why his character had been written off the show.

“Even though I know you were glad I was here and I’m glad I was here, I also know you’re sorry and surprised, and so am I,” Barnes admitted. in an Instagram post addressed to his fans and SVU audience shortly after his exit. “I do not quite know why it happened.”

He added that he was “so very proud to have played the first black vice president in SVU history”, thanked Barnes Wolf Entertainment management for initially bringing him into the SVU world and called for more opportunities to showcase marginalized votes.

“I hope that Wolf Entertainment’s leadership, by allowing me to amplify vital voice and history, will result in many studies continuing to open doors for opportunities for others to do the same,” he added. “This must continue.”
