Dani Laidley, Vic Police Agree | Stawell Times-News

Former AFL coach Dani Laidley has reached a confidential financial settlement with Victoria Police. The payment comes nearly two years after photos of the former West Coast Eagles and North Melbourne player and coach wearing a blonde wig, dress and make-up were leaked by police officers and shared on social media. Laidley claimed that police had breached their duty of care and sought “severe and exemplary” damages to be “brought into public ridicule and contempt”. She was arrested for persecuting a woman, and was spared a verdict and put on an exposed business instead. In a statement Tuesday night, Victoria Police confirmed that the case had been settled and the trial was adjourned. “By agreement between both parties to the lawsuit, the terms of the settlement are confidential,” the statement said. “According to the standard procedure, any disciplinary action relevant to the members charged with a criminal offense will follow the conclusion of those criminal proceedings.” The size of the settlement is unknown. Ms Laidley will also receive thousands of dollars from 11 police officers involved in the public leak of her mug shot. Australian Associated Press
