Creating the MCU with Prop Master Russell Bobbitt

Bonus episode of Phase zero time! n Bonus Ep. 9 speaks the Phase Zero team with a Marvel legend. Russell Bobbitt, who recently launched his amazing work in support of various charities at Trilith Studios’ The Reel People Cares Gala, opened up about his work bringing the world of the Marvel Cinematic Universe to life. Much of this work has taken place on site at Trilith Studios in Georgia, where films such as Spider-Man: No Way Home and shows as WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier has filmed. Bobbitt’s Marvel era began with the 2008s Iron Man and continues today where his current work is directly on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

In the conversation, which was held over Zoom, the video shows Bobbitt holding the Thor hammer and the Captain America shield, which he has been designing close to all along. “I’ve connected with the Board of Education wherever I go,” Bobbitt said. “I take the shield and the hammer with me to special education. And we see smiles on children’s faces that are almost incapable of smiling. And that’s why Marvel has given me permission to photograph the shield and the hammer everywhere. I go because someone wants to knock me on the shoulder if I’m there and I have it and they say, ‘This is a special moment. May I take a picture? “And then we give it. So they’ve given me permission to make the shield and the hammer.” Most of the rest remain under lock and key, but stories of Bobbitt’s past work are fair game! In this Phase Zero bonus episode, he tells all about creating some of the most iconic cinematic props in history!
