Climate protesters return to Port Botany to create traffic chaos

A man who has hung himself from a pole is among 10 protesters blocking traffic on a crucial route in Sydney.

Ten protesters representing Blockade Australia have again blocked traffic on Foreshore Road near Sydney’s Port Botany to demand climate action.

Police said emergency services were called to Foreshore Road, near the intersection of Sirius Street, Banksmeadow, after reports that a group had gathered in the area, including a man who had suspended himself from a pole.

Sirius Street is currently closed in both directions.

Significant traffic delays are being experienced and traffic diversions are in place around the airport and ports.

Across the city in Sydney’s CBD, members of the climate action group Extinction Rebellion are reportedly blocking the entrance to the Sheridan Hotel on the Park.

More on the way.
