In December, the River North Residents Association, a 22,000-member nonprofit advocacy group, sent a letter to Ald. Walter Burnett, 27 .; Ald. Brendan Reilly, 42 .; and Ald. Brian Hopkins, 2nd, expresses concern over Bally’s Freedom Center proposal. The letter, which is posted on the group’s website, said noise, traffic jams and crime were likely to be exacerbated by the casino, “negatively affecting” housing values and local businesses.
