Box Office: Suriya star player Etharkkum Thunindhavan has a good second weekend

Suriya star player Etharkkum Thunindhavan held up well in his second weekend at the box office and earned Rs. 8 million approx. The second weekend numbers can be described as quite good, but it’s a little too late in a good few days to change its fate. The film’s low start is the main culprit here, and a slightly better start with this holding force could have seen the end with respectable numbers. Director Pandiraj directed the film’s domestic box office collections for Rs. 47.50 crores approximately in eleven days runs so far and will cross Rs. 50 crores Wednesday / Thursday.

Etharkkum Thunindhavan’s ticket office collections at the Indian Ticket Office are as follows:

Week 1 – Rs. 39.50 crores (8 days)

Friday 2 – Rs. 1.50 million kroner

2nd Saturday – Rs. 2.75 million kroner

2nd Sunday – Rs. 3.75 million kroner

Total – Rs. 47.50 million kroner

Almost all of the film’s biz comes from Tamil Nadu now, with Rs. 7-7.25 crores 2nd weekend in the state. The film’s collection rose sharply over the weekend in the state, doubling Saturday from Friday and then Sunday jumping another 40 percent or so. The Sunday gatherings in the state were Rs. 3.40 crores approximately, falling just about 50 percent from its first Sunday, and it is an excellent team for a star film in the South Indian state.

ET was behind after last year’s release Maanaadu in the first week, but in the second week the collection is higher so far. It has crossed Rs. 35 crores in Tamil Nadu, which at one point seemed to be the last biz in the state, but now it is safe to go over Rs. 40 crores and maybe close to Rs. 45 crores if it is able to hold in its third and fourth week.
