Altina goes international with ACT TradeStart

Altina’s co-founder Alan Tse has experienced the benefits of support from the TradeStart program.

The Canberra-based beverage company Altina seeks to inspire their customers to live life without the negative aspects of excessive alcohol consumption. By combining the latest chemical processes with natural ingredients, Altina’s products provide a low-calorie alternative to wine or cocktails.

Partners Christina Delay and Alan Tse launched the company based in Mitchell in 2018 and pick up ingredients for their non-alcoholic beverages from local suppliers. After operating domestically for a short period, Christina and Alan decided to expand Altina’s products to international markets.

With the assistance of ACT TradeStart, Altina was introduced to the Singapore market and worked closely with the Austrade Singapore team to connect with distributors and retailers.

“TradeStart evaluated and shortlisted distributors in Singapore that suited Altina. They were able to support our brand and setup meetings, which simplified the introduction and sales process,” said Altina co-founder Alan Tse.

ACT TradeStart is a partnership between the ACT Government and Austrade, which supports exporters to achieve long-term success in international markets. It offers companies the combined resources of Austrade and partner organizations, provides local assistance and a direct link to Austrade’s services and overseas networks. Altina is now working on opportunities in the markets of New Zealand and the Middle East.

“Our experience with the program has been really positive and collaborative. As a company, we have felt welcome and part of a team rather than a customer, ”said Alan.

“With the relationship we have developed, we know that when we are ready, we can contact TradeStart to help us expand into more mature markets, including the United States, the United Kingdom and Canada.”
