An adult has life-threatening injuries after 4-alarm fire in west Toronto

One person has life-threatening injuries and three others have minor injuries after a quadruple fire in west Toronto Saturday morning, paramedics say.

At around 6:15 a.m., firefighters responded to a fire at a three-storey block of flats on Shaw and Leeds, north of Bloor Street.

According to the fire service, reports of black smoke and flames came from the second floor and the roof of the building.

After an initial search, the firefighters found two fully involved rooms.

One occupant was pulled from a unit, another was rescued from the third floor and two others were rescued via a ladder, according to Toronto Fire.

Toronto paramedics said an adult with life-threatening injuries was taken to hospital and three other residents with minor injuries.

The cause of the fire is unknown.

Roads in the area have been closed due to an investigation by the fire service.
