Omicron will infect ‘just about everyone’

Infectious disease specialist Dr. Anthony Fawcett warned that “everyone” would be infected with the Omicron variant, whether they were vaccinated or not.

“Omicron, with its phenomenal degree of transmissibility, will eventually find out just about everyone. Vaccinated … and promoted people will be exposed. Some, maybe many of them, will be infected but most likely, with a few exceptions, hospitalization and Do what is reasonable in the sense of not dying, ” Fawcett told the Center for Strategic International Studies.

According to the CDCAccording to Johns Hopkins University data, Omicron currently accounts for 98.3% of new COVID-19 cases in the United States as the nation reached a record number of hospital admissions with 145,900 on Tuesday and averaged 754,200 in the past two weeks, according to Johns Hopkins University. The alarming figure has tripled from last winter’s peak average of 251,987.

“I think it’s really hard to process what’s going on right now, which is this: most people will get COVID,” Janet Woodcock, acting commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration, told a Senate hearing.

“We need to make sure that hospitals can still operate, transportation, you know, other essential services are not disrupted when this happens,” Woodcock said.

Fawcett defended Woodcock’s statement.

“Remember, she was talking about the data that we all showed about the extraordinary impact and dilemma between getting an Omicron vaccine and how they are protected from hospitalization and death.” Fausi said.

He noted that everyone is going to be exposed but as long as they are vaccinated and are more likely to get sick “more, much less.”

More precautions are being taken, such as President Biden’s plan Send 1 million additional test kits Instead of keeping students in quarantine at schools, keeping them open and re-introducing legislation to send N95 masks to every American, San Bernie Sanders, I-Vt.

“We want our public health experts and scientists to talk about what we need to do: provide all our people with high-quality N95 masks at no cost, which can prevent death and suffering and save huge amounts of healthcare dollars.” Sanders said.

More than 50 Congress Democrats have signed the legislation.

The CDC reports that 62% of Americans have been fully vaccinated but only 23% have received a booster shot. The University of Maryland Medical System reports that less than 5% of hospitalized patients are fully vaccinated, according to Dr. Mohan Suntha.
