NYC winter storm coming? Forecaster details possible timing of system Sunday-Monday

An AccuWeather forecast.

STATEN ISLAND, NY — A winter storm that pushes down from Canada and will plunge into the Tennessee Valley before hitting the Carolinas and rocketing up into New York City could create a messy commute for Staten Islanders who work the holiday Monday, just a few days after accumulation on the municipality dangerous road conditions created.

Forecasters are currently unsure how much accumulation could hit the five boroughs, but the system’s timing is a safer bet – with Sunday evening the likely arrival time for winter weather. From there, it is expected to last until Monday morning before winding down in the afternoon, said Bob Larson, a senior meteorologist at AccuWeather.
