Later, around 6:30 p.m., police were alerted to an assault victim at a hospital who said she had been assaulted near McLaren Park. Officers who met the victim believe she is the same victim of the attack described by the witnesses. The 71-year-old woman told the officer she was walking on Campbell and Visitacion Avenues when a man hiding in the bushes approached her, threw her to the ground and began sexually assaulting her.

According to police, the man bit her in the face, causing her serious injuries as she was pressed to the ground. During the attack, she heard other voices screaming and the man got off her and fled.

The victim was able to spot a Good Samaritan who helped her call her husband, who arrived and immediately took her to the hospital.

The suspect is described as Latino in appearance with light skin, possibly in his mid-twenties, about six feet tall, stocky torso with thin legs, about 200 lbs., dark hair in a ‘bowl’ haircut. The suspect also had an awkward gait as pigeon toes or handicapped and was last seen in a khaki or gray jacket or sweater and blue pants.
