Barcelona are reportedly getting closer to signing Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba.
However, according to the Catalan news channel the national new Barca boss Xavi is not interested in signing the Frenchman.
pogba will not have a contract with United at the end of the season and will be free to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs from January.
The 28-year-old started the season well with seven assists in 13 appearances, but he has recently had a slump in form before being suspended and more recently suffering an injury.
United appear to be doing everything they can to lose the 28-year-old on a free transfer, while negotiations over a new contract have stalled.
Barcelona are reportedly keen to replace Ilaix Moriba and Miralem Pjanic, who both left Camp Nou in the summer.
While Nico Gonzalez and Pedri have impressed this season, an experienced midfielder is believed to help the team’s development.
Given Barca’s well-documented financial troubles, the fact that Pogba would be available on a free transfer makes him an attractive target for President Joan Laporta.
However, Xavi is already satisfied with his options in the middle of the park and would rather give youngsters like Aleix Garrido and Txus Alba their chance, it is claimed.
In the meantime, United are reportedly interested in signing Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic.
The 21-year-old has had a fantastic start to the season, scoring 12 goals in 14 appearances and alerting Europe’s leading clubs by refusing to sign a new contract with the Florence club.
According to Email onlineUnited are keeping an eye on the Serbian international and are planning to make an offer for the sought-after striker.
However, they could face competition for his signature from the likes of Juventus, AC Milan, Tottenham and Newcastle.
Vlahovic’s contract with Fiorentina expires at the end of next season, and the Serie A side could be tempted to cash in on its considerable talents when the transfer window opens in January.
