Singer Jessie J has shared the devastating news that she lost her unborn baby after becoming pregnant and planning to raise a child on her own.
The Price tag singer took to Instagram to reveal she had a miscarriage after being told her baby had lost a heartbeat when she went for her third scan.
Jessie J, 33, kept the pregnancy a secret from fans, saying in the heartbreaking admission that she “can’t control my emotions” — but still planned to perform in LA that night.
“Yesterday morning I was laughing with a friend who said, ‘How am I going to get through my performance in LA tomorrow night without telling the whole audience I’m pregnant,'” the singer says. Flashlight singer wrote on the social media post.
“Yesterday afternoon I dreaded the thought of getting through the gig without collapsing…After I went for my third scan and was told there was no heartbeat.
“This morning. I feel like I can’t control my emotions. Maybe I regret posting this. Maybe not. I don’t really know.”
The British-born singer shared the news alongside a photo of herself taking a pregnancy test and a touching quote from Seyda Noir: “Sometimes love won’t be enough to make it work, and that’s ok. It doesn’t mean you’re going to do it.” have failed.”
The newly single musician also revealed in the post that she was planning to have the baby on her own after she split from boyfriend Max Pham in October.
Jessie J has been candid about her past fertility issues, telling fans of her “grief” after learning she was unable to conceive a child naturally while on stage.
“I decided to have a baby on my own. Because it’s all I ever wanted and life is short. Getting pregnant was a miracle in itself and an experience I will never forget and know I will have again, she continued. .
“I’m still in shock, the sadness is overwhelming. But I know I’m strong and I know it’s going to be okay.”
Jessie J continued to show solidarity with other women who have experienced the pain of infertility or miscarriage.
“I also know that millions of women around the world have felt this pain and much worse. I feel connected to those of you I know and those of you I don’t know,” she said. “It’s the loneliest feeling in the world.”
The singer then thanked her fans for their love and support in a subsequent Instagram story, writing, “Your overwhelming instant outburst of love is felt, received and appreciated immeasurably. And got me out of bed this morning. Thank you.”
Jessie J was also in a relationship with actor Tatum Channing from 2018 to 2020, ending it in October 2020.
Channing was vocal in support of his then-girlfriend when she opened up at a concert about her struggles to conceive.
“This woman just poured out her heart on the stage of the Royal Albert Hall. Whoever was there saw something special. Wow,” he wrote on Instagram at the time.
