Two Homes Destroyed in 2 Alarm Fire in Southwest Calgary

Calgary –

Firefighters are on the scene after a fire destroyed two homes in the southwestern community of Coach Hill.

Officials say the Calgary Fire Department was dispatched to the scene shortly after 2 a.m., on the 6600 block of Coach Hill Road SW,

On arrival, they found a house that was completely on fire, with flames spreading to a second house.

A second alarm was called to ensure additional trucks could get to the scene.

Crews quickly launched a fire attack as they checked for residents of both homes, crews used air currents and large hose lines to attack the fire and protect neighboring homes, the CFD said in a release.

All residents of the affected homes were able to get out safely. No injuries were reported.

The fire service will remain in the area while salvage and overhaul work is underway. Both homes were destroyed in the incident, while a third sustained exterior damage.

“CFD will remain on site throughout the day to continue this work.”

A fire investigator will also be on site to determine the cause of the fire.
