Ol गु Gunnar Solskjयरr, who was sacked as Manchester United manager on Sunday, said he was proud of his rule and had left the club in a better condition than he had taken over from Jose Mourinho almost three years ago.
Solskjयरr were sacked after a 4–1 defeat at Watford on Saturday left the seventh team with one win from the last seven games.
“I am leaving through the front door, because I think everyone knows that I have given everything for this club. This club means everything to me and we are playing well together, but unfortunately I could not get the result. We needed and It’s time to dump her and move on, “she told the club’s MUTV channel.
“I think, or I know I would leave this club with a better team. The atmosphere is great, it’s an environment I am proud to leave because you have to enjoy working here,” he said.
Solskjयरr, who has won six Premier League titles as a player and scored a stoppage time goal against Bayern Munich in the 1999 Champions League final, said he was honored to be the club’s manager.
“Very, very proud. Of course, this is one of the things you dream of in your life. When you were a player, when you were a reserve team coach, then another job, the only dream and the only thing. Is to manage, and now I have.
“It’s been a force, it’s been a lot of fun from the first to the last minute, so I want to thank all the players because since I came in, they have been the top guys, the top guys,” he said.
Michael Carrick, another former player who is part of Solskjयरr’s coaching staff, will take charge of the team at Villarreal in the Champions League on Tuesday while the club will look for an interim coach to manage the team until the end of the season.
The win would secure a place in the knockout stages for United and Solskjयरr supported them to achieve that goal.
“As I said this morning (to the players), believe me, you know we’re better than this. We couldn’t show it but go out, chest out, enjoy being a Man United player. The Champions League, the biggest stage.
“If you win the game, you get to the next round, Michael will be responsible. Michael, I love Michael so much. I’m getting emotional right now because he’s the top. They’ll be fine. I’ll watch them and support them,” he said.
Solskjयरr said he planned to spend some time with his family in Norway before returning to the game and that he would follow the team as a fan.
“I definitely look at the team and hopefully, another manager will come and I want to support him. I want him to succeed, I hope I lay the groundwork for that because I know I’m good. What I’m doing.”
“I’m 100 per cent confident in creating a football environment, that’s where I’m good and sometimes, I’ll probably come back (working in football),” he said.
