Real Madrid’s 4-1 win over Granada has put Carlo Ancelotti’s team in the limelight.
It took them to the top of La Liga, if only for a few hours, playing Sunday after Real Sociedad, with Marco Asensio, Nacho, Vinicius Jr. and Ferland Mendy all.
Carlo Ancelotti inherited the side that lost to city rivals Atletico in last season’s title fight, but all the evidence from Nuvo Los Carmenes shows that it is difficult to stop this incarnation of Madrid.
Granada gave Monchu a red card in the middle of the second half, but Madrid had already taken a 3-1 lead and were pushing for more at that stage.
Asensio opened the scoring in the lower left corner for the fourth goal of the season in La Liga in the 19th minute through a clever pass from Tony Cruz.
In the 25th minute, Kruse gave Nacho a 2-0 lead after trailing goalkeeper Luis Maximiano from the bottom left at a nearby post.
Asensio brilliantly kicked Alberto Soro’s shot out of the line and Luis Suarez’s 25-yard hard strike bounced off Granada.
Madrid scored in the 56th minute and Vinicius equalized in a high speed counter-attack.
Vinicius was having fun on his own, and a lively charge from the Brazilian forward was stopped only by Monchu’s wild challenge, with the Granada player earning a straight red card from Juan Martinez Munuera. Mendy added the fourth goal for Madrid in the 76th minute.
