New South Wales reports that 176 new cases of Covid-19 and two deaths in one day have been protested in the city against the vaccine mandate and lockdown measures.
There are 192 people hospitalized with the virus, 32 of whom are in intensive care.
Of the population over the age of 16, 94.4 percent have received the first dose of the vaccine and 91.8 percent have been fully vaccinated.
About 55,000 test results were processed in 24 hours from 8 pm on Saturday.
This is followed by a day in which thousands of people gathered in Sydney to protest against vaccination orders.
Protesters include groups protesting the COVID-19 vaccine, mandate and the state’s proposed epidemic law, which were blocked in the upper house this week.
Police estimate that 10,000 people participated in the rally.
“Overall, the protest was conducted peacefully with minimal disruption in the community, and I am pleased to see that most people have followed the police instructions,” said Peter Thurtel, NSW’s assistant commissioner of police.
There were 182 new COVIDs reported on Saturday and no deaths were reported.
