Nominations for the 2021 Order of Ottawa and the Brian Kilrea Award for Excellence in Coaching are now being accepted by the city. If you know of someone who has demonstrated an extraordinary dedication to their profession or to the community that makes them highly deserving of this honor, please submit their name to be considered for this prestigious award.
The Order of Ottawa, now in its 10th year, recognizes the professional achievements and outstanding service of exceptional Ottawa residents – those who, through their professional endeavors, have made significant contributions to urban life in any of the following fields: arts and culture, business, philanthropy, health care, education, public service, labor, communications and media, science, sports and entertainment and other areas that benefit Ottawa.
This prestigious citizen award honors up to 15 of Ottawa’s most deserving individuals each year. You may nominate any Ottawa resident who has made significant contributions in a professional capacity that has benefited our community.
The Brian Kilrea Award for Excellence in Coaching, which will be presented at the Award of the Order of Ottawa in Fall 2021, recognizes the contribution of an amateur coach who exemplifies the qualities of leadership and dedication that have marked Brian Kilrea’s career. mr. A retired head coach, general manager and hockey player, Kilrea is best known for his 35-year association with the Ottawa 67’s. He is a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame, has played and coached in the NHL and with more than 1,000 career wins, he is the most successful coach in Canadian youth hockey history.
A list of inductees of the Order of Ottawa is prominently displayed on a wall on the first floor of the Ottawa City Hall and hung online. Audience nominations are judged and recipients of the Order of Ottawa are chosen by a selection committee including the mayor, the municipal secretary, the chief of police, the chief of police, the city archivist and the general director of the library services.
You can full nominations for both awards online or by downloading a nomination form from the Order of Ottawa award webpage. The compulsion deadline is Friday September 10 at 11:59 PM. Nominations will be considered each year for five consecutive years from the date of submission.

Nominations by immediate family members, self-nominations and posthumous nominations will not be accepted. Elected municipal, state and federal officials are not eligible during their term of office.
