“We believe that our approach to mandatory vaccinations is correct as we continue to focus on the safety and well-being of our cast members and guests,” the spokesperson said in an email. “At this point, more than 90 percent of active Florida-based cast members have already certified that they are fully vaccinated.”
Those not vaccinated will need to wear face masks and practice social distance, Fox 35 reports.
The decision comes after Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed into law a law banning covid vaccines from employers. DeSantis has been vocal against the vaccine and mask mandate throughout the epidemic.
Disney World cast member Nick Catuano told Fox 35 that he and other cast members received an internal memo informing him of the pause. The memo, which Fox35 claims to have received a copy of, states that the pause will be effective when Disney World evaluates new state laws.
