Amazon employee killed by unlicensed driver near NYC warehouse

A woman who works for Amazon was hit and killed late Saturday night by a car driven by an unlicensed driver as she crossed a street outside the company’s Staten Island warehouse.

The 24-year-old was trying to cross 5th Street across from the Amazon Fulfillment Center around 11:30 p.m. when she was struck by a Honda Accord heading west, police said.

The victim suffered head and body trauma and was rushed to Richmond University Medical Center but could not be rescued, police said.

The 19-year-old driver without a driver’s license remained at the scene.

The 19-year-old driver, who remained at the scene, had not yet been charged on Sunday afternoon. The identity of the dead woman was pending notification by the family, police said.

An email to Amazon was not immediately answered.
