A pickup truck traveling the wrong way on a highway in West Texas collided with a bus carrying members of a high school band, killing three people, officials said Friday.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, two students from the bus were seriously injured in the crash on Interstate 20 in Big Spring, about 250 miles west of Fort Worth.

The Andrews High School bus in Andrews, located near the New Mexico border, was on its way to a football game with 25 students on board when it was hit by the ghost car, which caught fire and killed the truck driver, DPS said. A third adult and two students were flown to the University Medical Center in Lubbock, 95 miles north of the crash site. The adult died in hospital and the two students were admitted in a critical but stable condition, Baker said.

The playoff game between Andrews and Springtown in Sweetwater has been postponed.

In a statement released Friday, Governor Greg Abbott said state officials are investigating the crash.
