Aim has booked his place in the rich Golden Eagle after a disappointing victory in the Silver Eagle surrounded by tragic events.
Objective escaped serious interference in the home run $ .5.5 million Golden Eagles raced their way with a quick sophisticated win at Royal Randwick on Saturday.
Coaches Peter and Paul Snowden completed a feature race double as the Aims finished firmly on the run for Elsberg in the 500,000 Silver Eagle (1300m).
But the race was marred by a shocking incident at home mode when leader Triple Ace suffered a catastrophic breakdown and those horses were immediately badly investigated, including Vangelic.
His shoulder was broken in the Triple S incident and Jackie James McDonald pulled on the horse without doing well.
Instructor Chris Lees said Triple Ace’s injury is very serious and veterinarians have no choice but to humanely gel.
Ellsberg and Count de Rupee where a series of interventions caused by the intervention became very wide but the objective was back in good territory and was not affected by the intervention.
Hall of Fame Jackie Hugh Bowman was able to prove decisive in the sprint to finish without losing goal speed through the field.
“Obviously there was a lot of hustle and bustle in a significant part of the race but thanks to everyone who was happy to stop that hustle and stay on their feet,” said Paul Snowden.
“He’s prepped this lovely horse, he looks good on the skin. The 1300m first-up was always there to ask for him but Hugh gave him an excellent ride.
The goal ($ 31) came with a strong run to knock out the ominous Elsberg (4.40) and score from a short header.
County D Rupee (5 .5.50) withdrew his balance and ran a blinder near the third, a very long neck away.
Bowman said Aim is a very talented four-year-old when it comes to track position and running according to a race.
“Well we all know what he’s capable of, he needs a few things to go his way a little bit and then he can deliver,” Bowman said.
“Things went his way today but he is a quality horse and we have seen him at this level and better than before.
“It’s a beautiful race for him to win.”
Three placegetters are guaranteed in the Silver Eagle Golden Eagle (1500m) starting October 30 at Rosehill Gardens.
The Silver Eagle has produced a Golden Eagle Minor placegetter in just two runnings of the rich Rosehill race.
Don Passage was third to fly in the Silver Eagle last year and was then placed equal to Collet’s Golden Eagle.
In 201 In, Mizzi finished third in both races, losing to The Inevitable in Randwick and then to Kolding in Rohill.
Snowden said the goal could be risky at 1500m but deserves his chance at the Golden Eagle.
“We’re going to go into unfamiliar territory with him as far as possible but I think we really have to think about it,” Snowden said after Aim’s victory complemented the success of stable partner Mira Vision in Group 3 Angst Stakes. In the afternoon
“He’s in the race, he’s qualified now, and it’s definitely going to be interesting. It’s worth a throw at the stumps.
“The goal is one of those horses that you have to wait for the right situation. They are not good on soft ground.
“We saw what he did in three years of Magic Millions last year. He blew them away when he got a dry track and solid tempo.”
“When he can get those conditions in a day he will definitely run against anything there.”
