*Update: Well, with some fidgeting, we’re able to figure out how to open Facebook Dark Mode back on the iPhone app. Facebook has confirmed that Android users will now have to resolve their issues. Here is the iOS fix:
First, uninstall Facebook, then reinstall the app.
If Dark Mode is not accessible, forcibly leave the app by dragging you with your finger from the bottom of the home screen, then swipe to the Facebook app.
Next, go to your iPhone’s settings and scroll down to the app section. There, select Facebook. In the Facebook app Set In, open “Upload HD Video” and “Upload HD Photo”. It’s weird, it’s brought us back to Facebook Dark Mode on at least three different iPhones.
We tried to bring back Facebook Dark Mode by emptying the app cache and storage on some Android devices but unfortunately, it doesn’t seem to work, but it seems that those issues are being raised now.
Facebook Dark Mode disappeared without warning as iOS and Android Users online Complain that the unbearable lightness of Facebook normal mode is more than they can bear.
Dark Mode is missing from the iOS Facebook app. My eyes … my eyes !! pic.twitter.com/3HilleqEhLMay 22, 2021
Is anyone’s dark mode on Android missing on Facebook? I just opened my Facebook app and was blinded by the white layout, went to settings and the dark mode seems to have disappeared in the Facebook app settings. #Fribbook #darkmode #AndroidMay 2, 2021
Hi I want to be on Facebook but my dark mode dies and I don’t want to be blindMay 2, 2021
According to some users, many access options seemed to be missing after the update, including Dark Mode. We were running version .01.0.0..3.88.11 (2 23 26635351)) on iOS, which was last updated days ago according to the Apple App Store, and we had no issues with our dark mode.
We can be sure that the problem appears in the version 2020.0.0..36.122 (2 38 383873732382)) as well as the old 319 319 319 version of the application. We have downloaded the latest iOS version on many iPhones and have been able to copy the issue.
Surprisingly, this is not the first time – Android users have reported a similar situation that was corrected without confirmation or warning from Facebook. In any case, it is clear that the most recent outage on May 2 was very widespread – in our article How to enable Facebook Dark Mode Suddenly the traffic was shut up, which clearly showed that an issue had happened suddenly and without warning.
Some users are reporting that Facebook Dark Mode is suddenly appearing as soon as it suddenly disappears on May 2, suggesting that it is a server side pinch that is able to trigger the above fix even faster – we certainly weren’t able to remove it again Mode.
Facebook has confirmed to our sister site Tom’s Guide that it has resolved the issue in the Android app, which means Android users should be able to reactivate Dark Mode in the near future if they don’t already have:
“We have reinstated the service for those experiencing a technical problem that caused someone to have trouble accessing certain features in Facebook’s Android app,” the spokesperson said. Tom’s guide.
Facebook Dark Mode just came back randomly for me if anyone thought it was goneMay 2, 2021
What happened to the Facebook Dark Mode setting?
The question of what really happened is curious – first, Facebook seems to have ignored the fact that iPhone users are facing this problem at all, focusing only on the (recently disqualified) Android Facebook Dark Mode issue.
A Facebook company spokesman acknowledged the issue in a statement to Tekradar: “We are aware that some people are having trouble accessing certain features of Facebook’s Android app. We are working to get back to normal as soon as possible.” It doesn’t say anything about the iOS app, but luckily there appears to be a way to at least get it back on the iPhone and iPad.
Our guess is that by toggling the settings on iOS, you’re forcing the app to reset its cache and re-enable the mode for some reason – and that doesn’t explain why the same manual app on Android doesn’t clear the cache. Work the same way.
This is obviously a bug because this unnatural Facebook is interested in removing Dark Mode, but it is one that clearly affects and upsets thousands of users.
How to enable Facebook Dark Mode
If you’re fresh on these issues and want to see if you can add a darker mode, this is a simple process (if the option is there for you).
To enable Dark Mode in the mobile app, tap the menu icon at the top right of the app (for Android) or tap the three lines in the top right corner (for the iPhone) and select ‘Settings and Privacy’ (represented by a cog icon).
Here, you will see the ‘Dark Mode’ option (with the lunar icon). Tap it, and you’ll see three options: On, Off, and Use System Settings.
The first two are self-explanatory, and the third will take into account any scheme you choose for your phone’s operating system.
