They committed the crime and the time, and then moved on with their careers.
It feels like a lot of the time, celebrities live in their own world and abide by their own rules. They’re just not quite like the rest of us.
Occasionally, a celebrity is forced to suffer the consequences of their own action. There are even some who have done jail time for some big screws.
These are the celebrities who spent some time in the slammer in the 90s.
1.
Matthew McConaughey was arrested on charges of possession of marijuana in 1998. Police were called because he smoked, listened to a Cameroonian singer and guitarist and played along on his bongo at 6 p.m. 02.30 on a Sunday evening / Monday morning … naked.

McConaughey was also charged with resisting arrest, to which he replied, “You broke into my house! F ** k, yes, I resisted.” He spent nine hours in jail.

Zsa Zsa Gabor was arrested in 1990 after she was stopped for driving erratically and found to have an invalid driver’s license and an open container of alcohol. She beat a police officer during the meeting.

Initially, she was given a probationary period and was ordered to perform 120 hours of community service at a shelter for homeless women. Zsa Zsa, however, violated probation, which was how she ended up with three days in jail.

Slick Rick was convicted of second-degree murder in 1991 after shooting his cousin. He was sentenced to 3 to 10 years in prison, but served 5 years.

As a result, he was almost deported as a foreign national who had served over five years in a U.S. prison. However, he was able to beat the case and still lives in New York.

James Brown escaped from prison in 1991 after serving three years in prison for taking a gun during a fight at an insurance company, evading a police officer and leading officers in a car chase.

Robert Downey Jr. was first arrested in 1996 when he was stopped in his pickup truck was found to have cocaine, heroin and a gun in his possession.

Downey ended up serving a year in California’s drug treatment and state prison in Corcoran.

Mike Tyson was found guilty of rape in 1992 and was sentenced to 10 years in prison with 4 suspended sentences and a further 6 years suspended imprisonment. He ended up serving almost three years and was released in March 1995.

Tommy Lee spent six months in jail in 1998 for spousal abuse following an incident of domestic violence with ex-wife Pamela Anderson.

Rick James was convicted of two separate counts of kidnapping and assaulting two different women while under the influence of crack cocaine in 1993. He spent three years in Folsom State Prison.

Before the world knew 50 Cent, he spent six months in a penitentiary bootcamp as a result of drug charges. That was in 1994, when he was only 16 years old.

Leona Helmsley, known as the Queen of Mean and wife of real estate mogul Harry Helmsley, was sentenced in 1992 to four years in prison for evading $ 1.7 million in taxes.

Helmsley served only two years, but she also had to pay $ 8 million in taxes and complete 750 hours of community service.

Tupac was convicted of sexually assaulting a 19-year-old woman in 1995. He was originally sentenced to four years in prison. He served only nine months of that sentence.

Felicia Pearson was convicted of second-degree murder in 1996 and served six and a half years in prison before discovering success in acting through The thread.

In 1997, Christian Slater allegedly became full of tequila, ate cocaine and attacked the woman and man he was with, as well as the officers who came to arrest him.

Slater was sentenced to 90 days in prison and renegotiated his start date so he could attend the premiere of Heavy Rain. He ended up serving 59 days.

Flavor Flav was imprisoned twice in the 90s.

The first was in 1991, after he pleaded guilty to assaulting his then-girlfriend Karen Ross. He continued to develop into an addiction, and in 1993 he was jailed for 90 days for attempted murder after shooting at his neighbor. Fortunately, he began his journey to sobriety after that release.

MLB star Darryl Strawberry was charged with three counts of evasion and conspiracy after failing to report over $ 350,000 in income. He pleaded guilty in just one case of tax evasion.

He served three months in prison and three months at home in 1995.

OJ Simpson served time in prison in 1995 pending trial for the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman. He was acquitted and released in October 1995.

Heidi Fleiss was convicted of federal tax evasion in 1996 and sentenced to three years in prison. She served 20 months at the Federal Correctional Institution in California before being released to a halfway house in 1998.

Pete Rose was banned from baseball for life in 1989 for betting on the sport as a team leader and former player. It was during this investigation that officials found that he avoided tax on his victory, earning him five months in prison in 1990 for falsifying tax returns.

Rae Carruth was at the beginning of his NFL career when he hired a hired killer to kill a woman who was pregnant with her child. The woman died, but their child was alive.
